As Singapore extends its lockdown amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, a work-from-home mother fights for her job while her domestic helper seizes an opportunity to do the unthinkable.

But nothing is ever as they seem.

A cautionary tale about 2 mothers, lives overlooked and voices mummed, /mʌm/ is a psychological drama with elements of an evocative thriller that examines Singaporeans’ symbiotic relationship with migrant workers.

  • On June 20th, 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic raged worldwide, migrant workers in dormitories accounted for 90% of Singapore’s Covid-19 cases, despite making up just 20% of the country’s population of 5.7 million.

It spurred a sudden spate of social volunteers in Singapore at its best, divided Singaporeans at its worst, and garnered xenophobic responses in the media at its ugliest.
